Haiku

don't you hate when you're
writing a haiku and you
run out of sylla

I write a haiku every Tuesday and post it on Facebook, inviting friends to play along by adding their own Haiku Tuesday poem. These Tuesday haikus are always in the 5-7-5 syllable form, because when I stray, followers take notice and are not too shy to let me know. Contemporary English-language haiku does not tie itself to this structure, but is image-based and straightforward, often with an ironic twist.

Most of the published poems linked below are not written in the 5-7-5 form. Theoretically, the poems about nature are considered haikus, while those about human foibles. Mine tend to lean toward human nature. These are a mix.
